Meet the team
BookLive started with a dream to make gigging easier. We've all been frustrated by how difficult it is to make a living performing, and many of us have had to put that dream on the back-burner to make ends meet. Once we created BookLive to treat our performance career more like a business, we have been able to make performing our full-time jobs and help others do the same for themselves.
Like most grad students, I wanted to pay my way through grad school with gigs (while also honing my craft). Unfortunately, the gigs that were promised to me didn't materialize. I also experienced the frustrations of unprofessional colleagues and inconsistent payment. So I took a non-musical job to pay the bills. One day, I decided to take control of my gigging life by combining my musicianship with my tech skills. I created my own music agency (Dream City Music) and wrote software to manage it. Once I did this, I was able to quit my job and have since been making a living exclusively from music. My team and I realized this software had the potential to help other musicians, so we strategized and re-launched it as BookLive.
As a graduate of the Eastman School of Music for both my undergrad and masters degrees in trumpet performance, I felt very prepared for life as a performer. Coming from a musical family, I've been fortunate to perform professionally since childhood. I co-founded BookLive with Jared to make gigging easier for everyone.
